Swachh Smart Society Awards

Karthikeyan of Aparna Towers, Kondapur said that their community member formed a subcommittee to maintain cleanliness and waste management. We made posters showing segregation of dry waste from wet. To stop the usage of plastic bags, we would pick up wet waste on a daily basis and dry waste once in a week. The people who collected dry waste were gifted a jute bag.

A Yadagiri of BHEL Avemach Colony, Alwal said that in our colony, we have been practising Community Composting, Haritha Haram, Swachh Hyderabad and other programmes of the civic body. We have 217 houses in our colony and have water harvesting pits to improve the ground water levels. The Swachh Award definitely encouraged us, they said.

Kistaiah, Head Master of ZPHS Shivrampally said that is a nationwide programme for cleanliness. The award by the GHMC provides us great encouragement. We have been educating our children on dry/wet waste management at the institution. We also educate them to practice the same things at their homes

G Laxmi of RGK Vambay Colony said that for the past two years, we have been focusing on segregation of dry waste and wet waste and creating awareness among the colony members. Apart from segregation of waste, we have aimed on not to use plastic material.

Athni Shetty, Vice President of Saket Sriyam informed that they started the Haritha Haaram programme in the society and the members took part in it. To keep the society clean, they asked all households to segregate dry waste and wet waste and in the near future we plan to create awareness on not to use plastics as well

P R Rammohan Roy, president of Vikaspuri Cultural & Welfare Associations said that cleanliness, greenery and waste management, besides other social works, differentiate their colony association with others. We sanction scholarships to poor children who reside near our colony, for their education. Moreover, we carry out immersion of Ganesha idols inside our colony in the immersion pond for past several years.

President G S Rao of Saket Residency Welfare Association said that this is the third year we have bagged the award for the cleanliness in the society. We have arranged a vehicle for transporting garbage; we make sure that the surrounding areas of the residency are also kept clean. We have also started home composting and asked all the households to take up this initiative to for a clean society

Jyothi of Ekta Prime Hyline Park, Gachibowli said that it is a great programme taken up jointly by The Hans India and GHMC to keep the area clean. Under this programme, around 20 people participated and we collected waste from the area and gardens in the society and transported it to the dump yard.

President Guri Shetty Chandrashekar of Vasavi Colony said that they asked the residents to segregate the waste; and with the help of GHMC a vehicle is arranged for dumping garbage. There are 12 roads passing though Vasavi Colony and we make sure that garbage is picked up from all the areas regularly, he said.
